"design as a term is a mistake created by those radicals from the Bauhaus, because the word "design" relates to the latin action of drawing something. designers are people who make plans about something and give those plans a structure of elements that are available as pre-established forms that they can predict as acceptable to everybody. That has nothing to do with the method of drawing something as art, or craftmanship, which relates to the action of creating something on a philosophical and critical basis, either as a figuration or a resemblance of reality, or even a depiction of that which is not real. In this sense designers are a mixture of clumsy business men and engineers that are born in metropolitan limits but are not at their conceptual and intellectual centre. Designers have a technological hindrance that artists have long been able to overcome by study and method and, also, tradition. In a word, design is a presumptuous word that is used by people who do not understand the first principles of art but are keen on fast social promotion and, in this sense, they can be classified as promoters of that avant-garde of which they are the first critics and of that, which by some the cleverest instances of their profession, is called the rat-race and the art of making something look nice."
