  This is not new. Johnny always bends over for the US, and australia has a history of sending in troops as fodder for the US and UK, for wars that have nothing to do with them (anyone remember gallipoli?)

  This stems from the racially tinged idea that they are a western outpost in the east surrounded by aggressive countries who would attack Australia if they weren't protected by the US and UK.
