-------------------------------being fickle because this thread is well derailed and yea i may be a little searching but i'm interested in the obsession of the spectacle and the ethical foundations of peoples opinions in relation to nature/environment issues. And all that stuff about whether man should control nature or if they are obliged to because ecological balances have been tipped so far off kilter already etc etc
and basically about perceptions of mans position within/without nature and the types of events that brings their opinions to focus. I remember reading a paper a few years back about the "disaster catalyst" and how only large scale events (like mass culls, global warming etc) can make most people sit up to an issue. and so the original question was to understand the scenario if the cull didn't take place. what would the rebound effect be on the eco-system etc etc yawn
