    To turn zooming on you have to go into your Accessability Preferences in System Preferences first. There is a key combo to turn it on and off which I believe is something like
    command-option-8 or something.

    Then you use the previously stated key command to zoom the screen and zoom out the screen. You can also invert the whole display using a key command also found in the Accessability preferences. Pretty cool.
