vormburo, i think it originally was animated ascii, but somehow you have to make a video out of it, hence the quicktime. you can't send an animated gif to mtv me thinks :)
anyways "ascii is so five years ago ... " - chubba. i know it's not new but dude it's even waaaay older than that. it's like pre matrix printers.
the first big ascii animation i ever saw was the asciimation of deep throat (the porno) quite some time ago. should still be out there. and that was all animated frames (i think current version is in java).
