Just a point of clarification. The US Strategic Reserve is a giant hole in the ground in Texas filled with 700 million barrels of oil. This has never been used (that I know, 'cept maybe to fill Arnold hummer) and was a closely kept secret for years

This is not to say that I'm for this BS of tapping the tunda. The transport costs are enourmous (leaky pipelines, tanker trucks and oil tankers are the bigger threat, not the wells. Yet no one speaks of the potential logistical damages.

I also heard Florida's Senator Martinez traded his deciding vote to drill Alaska for guarantees his state would be exempt for 20 years. what a wank.
