eithercreate an xml file that lists categorize your works [client, type, date, etc...]
or [harder/better],
simple form to add images to a folder while posting work info on a db, easily retrievable by flash using php.
[regarding the design]
I would make it more folio oriented, you could still frame it with the oriental look, but make the 'frame' items smaller, and more coherent trouhout the site.
