personally, I've always liked your site... as someone mentioned - nice shades and colour. stands out from typical websites.
i don't, however, like mystery-meat navigation - this really jars with the authenticity of your style, makes it awkward to appreciate your content. You could also bring out the typography a little more.
I think you could stick to simple html templates for your content - with a little planning, you could keep to a simple template and re-hash manually.
it'll be a shame to see it go, tho :)
