  this might not help u but what i'm doing is...

  1.make a new window playing ur video clip
  2.place them outsite of stage (but should be overlapping 1 pixel )
  3. then copy pixels from that window into any cast member

  then u can overlay or do whatever u want. I do this way when I need to "overlay" into 3D
