at the company I'm at, we do a lot of work for the public sector. Arts organisations, charities, etc. Although a lot of the work isn't award winning or aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it has a function and in that it helps shape the lives of those who aren't as fortunate as myself. I enjoy seeing the benefits and the affects our design work has.
another note aside, i don't believe every creative director (head honcho) enjoys all the work that comes in their his/her studio so nothing really is every perfect as we'll always be demanding more and more.
