in theory, having ss like 401k and other 'retirement' plans is ok...the problem is, though, that the majority of americans who NEED ss when they retire don't make enough money to do it on their own. that was the point.
i have a 401k, stock option plan, and a money market account...but, there are co-workers in my office older than i am who don't even have the 401k part.
you can't pay into a private account if you don't have the money in the first place.
so, in the end, this will end up benefitting those who make 'x' amount of money...screwing the rest.
the entire republican theocracy needs to be overthrown.
