Besides that, even if 98 does recognize the use of all 1 gig of RAM, Windows (especially) 98 is famous for simply starting new processes for the OS...
All Windows environments do that.
I had 512 in my system when I bought it. I look at RAM use and it's about 30% (around standard system use for Win). I upgraded to 768 and it still shows between 30-35% memory use.
Windows kills processes used to run the system based on the amount of resources you have available. The more ram just means that Windows can run more of it's environment processes.
That's why I use Linux now.
