grow callous and frigid. build a wall around you and don't let emotion come through. tell yourself you're a man of complexity and intellect. reduce things to where they're simple, ignoring the dissonance. wrap your head around a lie and hold onto it like it's your child. nurture your hatred for those who are beyond you, and free it when you die a frail withered wreck of a boy.
