Whatever you plan on using in the design.
9px is way to small. I'd stick with aliased verdana 10 or (even better) 11px if your doing comps on Photoshop.
PS 7 handles aliased text like a dream. So if you;re using 7, you shouldn;t have to mess with the kerning or spacing.
