in stead of using the mask,make a new layer with strokes and alpha mask the plants.make the leaves in a differen comp and et them scale up from 20percent to hundred...and to a ease out-ease in.put this comp in the main comp
maybe some color variations..a bit of camera shake..make it bit more exciting.
