Feel good about this:
I have three movies from Netflix that arrived today.
Blow Up
The Devil's Backbone
Soylent GreenBrought them over here to my GF's house, and we can't decide what to watch.
So we turn all three upside down after I have shuffled them repeatedly.
She then moves her hand back and forth over the three movies in a very rhythmic, mechanical pattern.
My eyes are closed.
After a certain amount of time, I press the "button," in other words, a poke in her ribs.
The hand stops moving.
Her hand selects the movie that is now beneath it.
It is The Devil's Backbone. This is the point where I say to her, "It's a little too late for a movie with subtitles." She concurs.
So we're down to Blow Up and Soylent Green.
The aforementioned selection machine gets turned back on.
I press the "button" again, this time her hand stops above Soylent Green.
We exchange glances, and I say, "I'm not really sure if I want to watch that. Let's watch Blow-Up."So, Blow Up it is. All that insane selection and randomizing, yet I have a hunch that if I would have just picked one at first, I would have chosen Soylent Green.
Now, the first person to tell me exactly why I rented Soylent Green gets this, uh, trophy.
