    well, alright. when i freelance for design firms i usually charge $40-$50/hour for design comps or HTML production. Flash is more, around $65-$75/hour. When you're freelancing for actual companies and not design firms, you can charge more, usually around $100-$175/hour, depending on your experience and how good of a sales person you are. Charging per project is stupid and you're setting yourself up for losing money (keep in mind that charging per project is not the same as estimating the number of hours and giving the client a quote.) If you don't have a solid portfolio (and "solid" doesn't just mean a lot of work,) then you'd probably charge $20-$35/hour. Always keep in mind that it's standard for contractors to include self employment costs in their rates. Oh, and since I'm sure some people are wondering, if you go with a staffing agency like Aquent, you'll make around $20-$25/hour, from what I've heard.
