They always call you to get some help just a few weeks after they dumped you. You're the only person she can rely on, etc. So you take her dog to the vet (wasn't it yours too?), help her change apartment or go to some university offices with her due papers. She might even go to bed with you. After that, just when you expect there might be a chance for coming back, she starts talking about someone she just met and you start thinking wtf?
I think that's their way of saying goodbye.
