Well, I would say that Christ has everything to do with true Biblical Christianity. Christianity by (Biblical) definition is a personal and abundant relationship with the risen Christ. Now, if you are speaking of Christ's position toward, or relationship to what secular culture commonly refers to as "Christianity", usually referring to the collective protestant denominations (even though non-Christians are present there), it is Lord and King. Not sure that answers your question properly. As for proof... proof is subjective. Proof for me would be the unassailable truth of Christ's Ressurection, the astounding reliability of the Biblical record and it's teaching about the body of worldwide believers (i.e. the church).

Some interesting passages from the Bible...

    - Romans 12:5
"so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."

    - 1 Corinthians 12:12
"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ."

    - Ephesians 5:29
"After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church."
