i believe the brunt of the law still comes down on the actual nozzleman... an it was only through a chain of ass-saving they-paid-us-to-do-its that it got back to the companies themselves even though it was obvious...
i used to ride documentation for a streetteam, (yes, sigh, we did some of those stenciled head things) and if anyone was busted, they were fined directly for what they were doing (and made to rip stuff down in the case of posters)
only if you got massively enough busted (which is rare when you have 6 guys and the order is to scatter on sight of cops) and then only if your company lawyers were actually dumb enough to finger upward rather than let you take the lite vandalism rap would the issue of penalizing the "sponsoring entity" (in that case, the agency) come up.
then the agency's lawyers would have to be dumb enough again to finger upward for the actual client to get nailed...
