    heh little port.

    the basic idea would be to open a terminal and try to, for example, telnet to the specified ip on the specified port. if you are able to establish a connection, then your problem looks like it's in the ichat softw.

    otherwise, check both y'all (and any interim - for ex if either of you is using a separate router box on the local net with a firewall or something similar on THAT) firewall settings.
