well that's why there are food stylists. to make it look exactly the way you want it to look. btw, most of the food shots you see are fake or not real and fer sure not eadible. take the waterdrops on beer for instance, it's a sort of gel airbrushed on the glass and they can regulate the amount of foam by using salt en adding oxygen etc. coffee is most of the time a dark solid gel and they put some cream on top. list goes on and on.
anyways, shooting it yourself is still the best option in this case. you can also photoshop a lot of it out and you can control the lighting etc. yourself.
