i didn't do anything special, when i wanted to ask, i asked - i think it's better that way, you can't engineer the moment to be right, wait, and when the moment is right, do it.
when i asked her father if it was alright, he made sit in the chair in the lounge for 25 minutes while he finished the program he was watching. i was almost shaking, i thought i had asked the unthinkable while i was stewing for that 25 mins.
after the credits had rolled [panorama] he asked me 'what did you say' - i told him i wanted to marry his daughter, and he said...
