I'll tell ya, when I moved here in 2001 I had never perfomed, singing and playing guitar, in front of anyone.
We found a bar in our neighborhood, just by chance, and they had an open mic night on Mondays. I had played guitar for about 10 years already and played guitar in a band in high school for three years.
So I wrote a few things, got up in front of people there and did one on my own, and together with my roommate.
Loved every second of it. Wrote more songs and became a regular on Mondays. That's how I met many of my friends here, the bass player in my band as well. In fact our drummer probably saw me back then and we only first met each other in Dec. 03.

I really enjoy playing acoustic guitar and singing, doing solo stuff. It's nice that I had a couple years here to do that, I guess it makes it more comforing to have two more people on stage now. I mean, in many ways I spent the five years in college learning to sing and play at the same time, so it was great to move away from Texas, feel like I was totally starting a new life here, and do things I never would have done in Texas.

I will be putting some of my solo stuff on my mg33.net site soon.
