granted, I didn't shave my head, but the last time i cut 12 inches off my hair was to donate it to Locks for Love. It'll make your heart feel good. I hate my hair short, but each time I started to feel poopie because of a "bad hair day", I remembered where that hair was and my problems didn't seem at all bad anymore.
I believe donation lengths start at 6-8 inches (they need that much for a decent length wig plus the binding).
