I don't think you should have to read a book to 'understand' a site. The book is for designers, and I guess the site isn't.

No its that you have to kind of understand the designer to understand his site. Basically my take on his site is that he is mocking style, it's sagmeisters joke. My friend didn't get it. So what I'm saying is that by knowing a little background on the designer and his beliefs sometimes explain why they do certain things...kno-wud-i-mean?
