I mentioned in another thread a couple of days ago that my little brother had just returned home from Phuket where he'd been living for a while now...
... he's been home just over 2 weeks. He was flipping through some images of the aftermath - the place he was living (about 200 ft off the shore) caved in and of course was just buried in water along w/the surrounding area. He spent most of his time crashed out on the beach...
... I felt so sick when I heard that phuket got hit - because it came very close to home for me. When we hear of these tragedies off in other countries - we have a tendency to be shocked... but are able to move on usually in a matter of minutes. When it's close to home (like 9-11 for alot of us)... your life changes.
I want to donate - but I'm not sure who to donate too...
... as far as people like Bill Gates - he's got a ton of cash, yes... and he's one of the largest donators (if not the largest private donater) in America. His wife is the founder of a large cancer research foundation also.
This is one of those times where America should definetly show their 'muscle' and HELP the world. America has so many resources and often feels they're the world police... well, here's their chance to shine as the world's most powerful medical and disaster team. In all honesty - Go America! Money shouldn't even be mentioned here... stop the fucking politics and just HELP YOUR FELLOW MAN.
