Normally fonts have a slighly blurry edge to make them look nice on paper, makes them look smooth. However, on the screen this isn't very legible when small on a screen. It's all blurry. A pixel font is afont made specially for the screen that looks sharp.
A basic description. For instance, what're you're reading right now is made of sharp pixels, no blurring.
