two different ideas:
Idea #1: you can add a medium/gloss to your acrylic paints to extend their life/drying time -- which gives you some of the flexibility and blending power of oils, without having to wait days for the paints to dry. If you want to keep the paint in your palette overnight: cover it with saran wrap, and press into the paint (although messy, this will keep the air out of your paint, and can preserve the perfect color for another day). Put the wrapped palette into the refrigerator and voila! acrylic paint the next day!
Idea #2: alkyd paints... I don't know much about them, but recently tried them... Alkyds are oil based paints, and have a day or two of drying time (so far, with my experimentation). I don't know how they price compare with Acrylics or Oils, but I like them quite a lot thus far.
