With a few deft strokes and several pounds of tinsel, the artist has succeeded where generations of great filmmakers, novelists and and painters have failed, creating a profoundly moving commentary on our pathetic and yet ennobling aspirations and how--inevitably-- they fail us, becoming the very burden we hope to surmount. In posting his wry and heartbreaking work in a newstoday "crit" thread, Mr. Nidzgorski, known simply as "Peteski" has created a brilliant overlay of formal irony, in which the viewer becomes a participant in this complex work. One can only wonder at the emotional bravery it must take for an artist of such stature to expose himself to the untutored responses of his 'critics", upon whom the meaning of the work seems lost.
