i've lived away from home for 12 years now. much of that time all the way across the country (US) from my family and i only make it home twice a year for only a few days. i have a lot of friends there too. my parents are pretty understanding and i usually end up having my friends over to my parents house for at least an evening. i think my parents are just happy to have me home that they do what they can to accomodate me. good luck. if you haven't been away for awhile, they will get used to it.
