he he... I never saw Donne Brasco, but I've been meaning to for years.
The word is Chilaquiles (it's always plural). And yes its similar to what you described, although that sounds like an americanized version. It's tortillas, sometimes eggs, sometimes not, red or green chile sauce, onions. If they don't have egg, they have shredded chicken.
There's no such thing as one chilaquil (singular), however, that nickname is from a Mexican movie: Amores Perros (highly recommended if you haven't seen it). There's one scene in the movie where these guys are getting chased by some criminals trying to kill them. The guy in the passenger seat tells the driver: "Date vuelta aqui, vamos a la casa del chilaquil" (Turn here, let's go to chilaquil's house). You never know who the guy is ('cause they don't end up going there) but I liked the name...
