    Excellent thread. These things are at the top of my mind right now as well.

    As design professionals, it's our responsibility to force people to think and in the process, raise the collective IQ. As Tibor Kalman points out, artists have always pushed society forward - knowingly or not - expanding comprehension of concepts and visuals. If we feel it is satisfactory to simply produce pretty widgets than it will become the norm.

    I don't want to ever feel that this is just a job. There's got to be more to design than just being able to operate a computer program or two. I just want to make my clients money, make them happy, and make enough to do what I love. It only feels right when you're making money doing what you love - then it doesn't even feel like work.
