    rabittski-

my grandfather is 78 and still sharp as a tack. he and my grandmother worked on a farm for most of thier lives with their 7 children, one of course being my mother. when he was 35-ish he started work for the small town he lived in. as long as i can remember, (29 years) he was the city planner and on the board. one of his many jobs was running/maintaining the water tower. not the actual tower, but all the inner workings of the well house. he retired when he was 67 and had absolutely hated it. just a week ago at thanksgiving now that i'm talking about it, my uncle matt (the same uncle from the story above) offered him a small job at his now very large company. my grandfather sat at the table and said 'i don't care what it is i do, i wouldn't mind just working again. i'll clean the toilets if i have to.' now, he's well educated, distinguished and an outstanding citizen who was actually given the key to the city he lives in, so he's not like some scumbag who wants to clean toilets. not sure where i'm going with this anymore but i guess it was never about the money to him, it was about the heart that goes into the work done and loving what it is he did. from the stories my mom told me about them growing up without a lot of money, but in a household full of love again, i don't think it was about the money ya know. i've learned a lot from that wise old man.
