When Nac and I were working on our own site it had tons of animations (most of wich we had to kill just to get to work on various machines). But at first we were trying to run it really high, like 80, it worked smoother on most of our machines but we ended up finding that it ran much better on other machines when we dropped it down between 30 - 60.

We had tons of problems with those plants, had to keep them in vector so that the bitmaps wouldnt jump when we brought them closer but there were so many vectors on each of them that we had to reduce the plants (originally we wanted between 8 and 12 plants). Uhg that site was a pain and it never really got finished.
But yeah I think 31 is a great choice. Everything we had was scripted except for the beetle...so when we changed frame rates I always had to go fuck with his timelines. Lesson of the story...find a good framerate and stick to it.
