    the effect was done using a few different methods... the vines are predrawn, more specifically keyframed. then i have a set of guides that follow the keyframing of the vines growth that the main movieclip counters to keep it centered.. so basically it just chooses a random vine from the library every time. if u would like a piece of the fla that demonstrates how it works send me an email, i will be more than glad to help
