I am assuming you are on a windows machine and that these are huge files...
I get these occasionally (I work with files anywhere from 50mbs to 400mbs). One thing to notice is that windows has to recognize the file first, before you can delete it. On my machine, with W2000, it tries to create a preview in explorer. Until it does, you can't do anything to the file (rename it or delete it, etc.). It can take anywhere from 5 secs to 30 minutes and usually will either show a thumbnail of it or a black rectangle once it does read it. Then you can delete it. I am sure there is a way around this, but that's what I know.
Method #2 is to go into DOS and manually delete it. Can't help you there, though, I don't know DOS. I had a computer guru friend guide me through that.
This happens with any files that are huge. Hope that helps. If you learn a better way, post it up, I'd like to know.
