So on the specs for them as I was looking, there is not that much diff between the D70 and 20D (on the specs - someone might be able to tell you diff that knows more)
The Canon can shoot 5fps whereas the D70 3, Canon has more megapixels, but I don't always know why people drool over this unless they need it. At 6.2 you are already printing pretty damn big, so it will depend on your needs.
The other major thing to consider is that one has CMOS and one has CCD, generally CCD (D70) is more highly regarded in image quality. For an article on this:

You can push the ISO on the Canon on stop further in either direction on the D70.
The Canon also has a sync whereas the D70 does not, but this will not matter if you are not doing any professional lighting.
The cameras also have their own proprietary metering systems, so if that is of interest to you, look it up.
I guess the last thing to consider is price - Canon is more expensive, but may offer more if you need more.
And lastly, don't just look at the camera. The lens is just as important. I know the rebel comes with a shitty kit lens, I don't know the lens that comes with the 20D.
Because I have the D70 I can tell you that it is a great lens for one that is included in a package. The 20D may have a great one as well but I do not know that.
Hope this is comprehensive!
