also, the built-in audio ports on the mac are not that great. okay to start with, but moving forward you may want to consider purchasing a USB or Firewire audio interface.
i just picked up an Emagic EMI 6|2m ($299) and it sounds AMAZING! better than my DIGI001. better than the converters on my Mackie D8B, and better than the MOTU 2408.
