First of all Muslims shouldn't be hated by anyone. But unfortunately, Islam is anything but peaceful. The watered-down, "very similar to christianity" version being sold in the U.S. and parts of Europe is really just a way to make the religion more palletable and seem more acceptable to average folks.
Here are just a few of the "peaceful" dealings of Islam going on around the world right now. (you won't see these on CNN or the BBC)...
SAUDI ARABIA: Indian Christian, Brian O'Connor, arrested and tortured in a mosque on March 4th, was released from custody November 1st and returned to Bombay. He was jailed and charged with selling alcohol and possessing Bibles and pornography. False charges like this are typical when authorities do not want to admit their zero-tolerance policy toward other religions.
NIGERIA: Representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the central state of Plateau have called on the Nigerian government to bring an end to emergency rule imposed on the state six months ago and to restore all democratic structures. Emergency rule is slated to continue through November. However, CAN believes agitation by Muslim leadership aims to extend the state of emergency. Christian leaders told President Obasanjo that they fully support the establishment of a proposed Plateau State government Truth and Reconciliation Commission. A government report disclosed that 53,787 persons have been killed during the three-year crisis that has pitched Muslims against Christians in the state. Over 200,000 households have been displaced and 25,000 homes destroyed.
also in NIGERIA: In October, a Shariah court sentenced a young, unmarried Muslim woman to death for becoming pregnant. Hajara Ibrahim from Bauchi State had confessed to having had a physical relationship with a man named Dauda Sani, whom she claims had promised to marry her, according to a report from Christian Solidarity Worldwide. Mr. Sani denied this; and since Ms. Ibrahim did not have four male witnesses to support her contentions, he was acquitted due to lack of evidence. Ms. Ibrahim was released into the custody of her family pending the birth of her child. The legal charge of fornication would be punishable by flogging.
INDONESIA: On October 21st, unidentified drive-by snipers shot and injured Hans Sanipi, a 25-year-old Christian. Sanipi was speaking with several other people in front of the church when two men on a motorbike passed and shot randomly into the crowd. Christians and Muslims alike are speculating why police have not yet found the mysterious "drive-by" killers who have murdered at least five Christians and injured 11 others since April 2004. Meanwhile, Muslim youths attacked pig farms owned by Christians on October 20th, claiming the smell of pigs was offensive, "especially during Ramadan."
