you can also work on some kinda experimental personal projects. play with motion... color... concepts.. etc. thats kinda what you have to do with movies... create a feeling without giving it all away. a lot of studios are allowing for more experimental style sites now that go for more experience than *interface*. if you have a few examples of that to show that could work just as well as a good portfolio peice.
