I reckon your best bet would be to actually speak and present your work to someone in the company you want to work for, rather than just sending out emails and hoping for a respoinse.
You are going to need to draw parallels in thnking between the work you did and the sector you want to move into. But that shouldn't be hard, pitching yourself on ideas, branding and communication will mean you cross sectors rather than being defined by them.
And the best way would be to pitch yourself that way yo potential employers rather than hoping that a single sided letter and CV will do the trick.
