we're not sales guys so we're not going to convince you, go with what you like and what makes your day easier. honestly you just need to go use a powerbook to see what you think. it sounds like you're on the right path with size, memory, and so on. you can always go to crucial.com for memory. with memory, it's the more the merrier.
like mentioned earlier, the cost of these machines is irrelevant. once you build a pc to the same or similar specs, it about the same price. the architecure of the G4 or G5 processors is much faster. so in the end you still come out on top.
