i don't think it's being bored, it's more being "annoyed". you sort of want to click thru but you don't know how long it'll take so you sort of quit. but dude, it's your site, do whatever you please to do. if you feel like it doesn't need it than don't do it.
do you have site stats? if so, just keep this setup and check the stats on how far people go. change the setup to you know what and check the stats later. chances are that you'll see that people will look at your pictures more. and that's what your site is for. looking at pictures, promoting yourself. right?
