me and my buddies had a scam at the Canadian Tire stores in and around where we lived back when stores still didn't have security cameras.
we would go grab one of those cheap round charchoal bbq's and take it out of the box (box was about 3'x3' and about 1" deep. we'd then go around the store and fill it up with cordless drills, angle grinders and whatever else we wanted that would fit in. we would then proceed to the tape alisle and use some of the packing tape to seal the box back up.
time to check out, $19.99 +tax for a box full of goodies.
