couldn't get past the second one...
my wifes family is east indian, and i've heard stories about stuff like that for years..
its nothing new, and the sad fact is that it (or crap just as bad) has been going on for years...
It's obviously not all Indians, and doesn't at all represent how all indians treat women..
not at all...
but , sad to say, that in some areas, women are still considered property. they not only have no voice, but they're not really considered people in their own right...
just property, like cattle, to be used however the 'owner' sees fit...also worth noting is that, since having a daughter costs more money (dowery) many people resort to terminating pregnancies where the sex has been determined female..
there's ultra sound clinics popping up like crazy...i don't have to tell you what kind of far reaching effect this can have on a society...
when you treat 1/2 the population like cattle, and mistreat and torture them, and then create an atmosphere where they're being born less and less...
well......what do you suppose is gonna happen when there just isn't enough women left?
what kind of society would that be?
