yeah, because we call them ARTISTS for a reason. ya get me? Like it or not, but fronting an ad (a bit tricky when your giving permission for a song you did 30 years ago to be used on an ad) is compromising your integrity. No way would i respect someone who did that. The people, ESPECIALLY hip-hop, are trying to reach out to you. I have this quote ffrom Dead Prez on my wall that would be quite appropriate. Can't remember it. Goes something like "black peopel dont own the music, we own it in its potentiality" and "avaricious capitalists" and "how come they dont show u that shit in the video?" and "Thats why hip-hop is seen as American.It's not African, it's roots, it's American".
Now if those punks did the next Pepsi ad. I would be like, gawd i am so disillusioned. Now who is gonna express my anti-establishment views muscially?
