yikkon, you should definitely try out what you really want! make sure you save enough money to live on for at least 6 months.
I was prepare to leave my last job but then they laid us off and gave us 5 weeks extra pay! But the money dried up pretty fast so I had to take a job. But I think it's the right decision.
So my opinion is save money and make sure your portfolio is up to date so that you can start applying when you decide to leave.
