This is a totally objective opinion and you can take it for what it is worth. And this little to do and everything to do with your work.
You remind me of me about 3 years ago. 3 years ago, I would create something and throw it in front of somebody. Even before they said a word, they already knew that I was on the defensive. When they did comment, I would take everything they said as a personal cut or offense. Not listening to them objectively and seeing their opinion for what it really was. Good advice for free.
It is tough. It is so hard to not get defensive when sometime is critiquing work that you have poured your time and creative soul into.
This is about image. The image you both create for your work and yourself.
The best piece of advice I can give you is that when you realize that your "self" image is alot more important than your "work's" image, the easier and smoother your creative career will become.
Trust me. I have been there.
As for the work. Keep rockin'. Take this piece. Break it into a 100 pieces. Put it back together in a totally different way. See what evolves. Do it again. And so on. That is what experimenting is about.
Sorry for the long windedness. Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.
