the main thing I can say is to "flash it down." Flash makes it so tempting to put little animations here and there. Sometimes it becomes a distraction from your main message. Did people come to your website because they want to see type fly and flip across the screen or did they come to see what your company can do and what you stand for.
It is good to have some nice suttle motion effects, just don't let them become a distraction.
